Customer event „High Performance HR – Acting instead of just talking. A necessary reaction to the challenges in turbulent times“ On Thursday, April 14. 2011

“Knowledge is worth nothing – unless you apply it. It is not enough to want something - you have to do it. “ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

On Thursday, April 14. 2011, the TCI Experts Community HCM (Human Capital Management) held its first customer meeting in the Künstlerhaus München. „The house is meant to be a platform for all Munich artists, a center for cheerfulness, advice and the first deed“, this is the wording of the certificate publicly read in 1893 when the Künstlerhaus Munich was founded. The certificate is kept in a wall.

The objectives of this TCI event was to be a platform for discussion of topical and important focus in HR for a selected number of participants, among them entrepreneurs and HR managers. We were happy to welcome 26 representatives from HR and the management of companies of different industries.

Martin Bergmann, member of the TCI management, presented in his words of greeting TCI as the pioneering and cross-industry platform for transformation management in companies. With this event TCI emphasizes its competence in Human Capital Management.

The opening speech held by Dr. Ursula Fellberg, Strategic Advisory Human Capital Management, gave an overview of status and challenges of successful HR work and highlighted the reasons why the strategic outline of HR has not significantly improved over the last years. Six theses with proposals emphasized which actions could really help in increasing added value and acceptance of HR work.

Winfried Holz, Chief Executive Officer of Atos Origin Deutschland and CEMA, presented an experience report about HR transformation in Atos by new HR roles and a comprising leadership program for managers as the drivers for a change.

The ensuing discussion was expertly moderated by Dr. Birgit Holler, a well-known economy mediator.
It became obvious that the theses had hit the ‚nerve’ of our guests. The HR representatives reported how they decisively contributed to a sustainable value creation and to a purposeful growth of their company by the alignment of their HR department, by an early involvement and by actively driving the necessary transformation processes. They confirmed our presented theses and faced the challenge to sustainably change the competences of HR and to attribute a leading role to the managers.

The representatives of other enterprise units emphasized to accept the challenges by changes in global markets and innovative technologies and to rely on a tight integration of HR work and the strategic company objectives.

The discussion was enriched with project examples by members of the TCI HCM Community. The discussions were followed by a reception where stimulating conversations could develop and new contacts could be created.
The positive feedback of our customers gave a clear sign to continue this kind of experience exchange.
